I'M YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN, CHEESE GRATER

HELLO MOSTLY SILENT COMMUNITY HOW HAVE YOU BEEN

...I realize this is basically going to come down to something of a semantic quibble, but the one thing that always really smokes my mozzarella when we have a request month -- leaving aside, say, the occasional 'An FST for Dragonball Z using only ninth century Gregorian chant from what is now southern France! DON'T TRY TO CHEAT AND USE EIGHTH CENTURY, I'LL KNOW! :D :D' -- is people requesting and making FSTs for things that are not, strictly, things that one would be a fan of. Like, say, Italy, or grapefruits, or the letter Z, or Jesus. (I mean, there are already quite a few FSTs about Jesus, if you know what I mean.)

Or, say, the 80s. I mean, okay, that may very well be a perfectly respectable mix, I don't know, I didn't really look, and I guess I could be just being a big anal butt about things, but that isn't really a fan soundtrack, is it? Or are you a big fan of the 80s, sir or madam? Can you prove that? Have you, say, gotten together with your pals to eat popcorn and watch the 80s in your dorm common room? Have you written fanfiction for the 80s? I'd say maybe something in a David Bowie/Boy George, but shit, why the hell would anyone bother.

I MEAN WHERE IS THE EIGHTIES COSPLAY?? oh wait

Current Mood: now I want somebody to try to make that chant fst
Current Music: it would be pretty sweet

If someone can be a fan, can I be the anti-fan? Seriously.

this comment could probably also apply to the messiah

I think I--

I--

This is the best FST I've ever seen. Hands down, baby.

You are a GOD for this.

I love you.

I also kind of want to hear that dbz soundtrack now. :>

handel was so flattered when king george II left that comment

Low standards: they're everyone's friend!

I know! Man, I should stop suggesting things that are supposed to sound stupid, they always end up sounding awesome. ._.

That's what I've been saying. I can't stand half the requests people make. People want so-and-so pairing or whatever then that's fine. But you got people with stupid requests like "I want an FST about hikeing!" or "Make an FST for songs you'd mix if you took a road trip!" and "Make an FST for when you go to the mall and there's some parent with a crying baby and you think 'Gee. I really do wish that baby would stop crying'"

The whole point of FST is that you make a soundtrack for a fandom. "An FST filled with songs incorporated from the German Classical Era" isn't exactually a fandom.

Hoppin' on the redundancy traaaain...

Frankly, when the 80's request came up, I was tempted to try some sort of Michael Ian Black/Mo Rocca tragic romance soundtrack, but was lacking for resources. And teh funny wore off after the first ten seconds, but that was kind of a given.

But, er, I think I know what you're getting at unless the sleep dep's eaten me totally, er, whoops. - a difference between a fannish soundtrack and what's essentially a wackass situational mixtape? (Occasionally, a really fun mixtape, in my rollercoastery-standards opinion, but, yeah, still a difference there I try valiantly to avoid.)
